Where to Hit the Ice – Bay Area Holiday Ice Rinks

Shopping: Industrie Denim
On the border of Union Square and Chinatown lies someplace jean-ius—Industrie Denim. The two story complex caters a vast array of denim jeans to fit every human body variation.

Wake for Santa John
Irish bar Lefty O’Doul’s will be hosting a wake for John Toomey, the well-loved character who served as Santa Claus at Macy’s Union Square for twenty years until he was infamously fired last December for telling some uptight adults a semi-baudy joke. Toomey, 69, passed away last week.
Rappelling off the…Hyatt?
If you see people rappelling off the Grand Hyatt hotel in downtown this Friday and Saturday, you won’t be imagining things. And it’s not some elaborate stunt either. Created as an event to benefit the Special Olympics Northern California, the public is being invited to rappel 425 feet (that’s 36 floors) from the hotel’s rooftop.
Picasso Thief Caught
And who do you image would be brazen enough to simply walk into an upscale art gallery in Union Square and coolly walk out with a stolen Picasso drawing worth upwards of $200,000? A criminal mastermind with a long record tracked by Interpol? Nope – it’s just some dude from Jersey.
