Board of Supervisors to Vote on New America’s Cup Agreement
Following a lengthy meeting this week, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Committee voted 2-1 to move forward with an agreement between city officials and organizers of the America’s Cup race.
Fleet Week Celebrates 30th Anniversary in SF
San Francisco Fleet Week, a celebration of the rich naval tradition in the Bay Area, will honor the men and women who are currently and have in the past served in the armed forces this week.
America’s Cup Dates Announced
The dates for the America’s Cup – you know that little international sailing race that’s going to be completely taking over the piers and the Bay – have been set: Sept. 7, 2013 – Sept 22, 2013 (or even earlier if the winner emerges before the 9th and final round). Before all this, however, is The Louis Vuitton Cup, which determines the challenger and will take place July 13 to Sept. 1, 2013. Wow. That’s a lot of sailing.
America’s Cup Made a Top Priority
Although the America’s Cup is nearly two years away, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee has created a committee of city officials to help coordinate the city’s efforts, as San Francisco is set to host the race in 2013.
