Win a Santa Suit for SantaCon this Weekend!
Celebrate SantaCon and the holidays like a boss, more accurately, like the big red jolly boss AKA Santa Claus.
July 4th Fireworks 2012
The fourth of July is nearly upon us. And while there may be lots of places to BBQ, the real star of the holiday are the fireworks. But where to catch the show? Here are our picks on the very best places to enjoy the fireworks around the Bay Area.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
He was a man with a strong voice and even stronger message. Unafraid and courageous, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for what he believed in. His presence is sorely missed and he will always be remembered.
No Cozy Christmas Fires
If you had a vision of sitting around your Christmas tree bedecked in your flannel robes, opening presents and drinking hot chocolate while a cozy little fire crackled in your hearth, then think again. While it isn’t an official Spare the Air the day, Bay Area Air Quality Management officials are asking residents to please refrain from lighting up.
Merry Christmas!
Wishing you a happy holiday season and all the best in the coming year! From SF Station’s family to yours. That being said, we hope you get some killer presents and don’t get too drunk on all that spiked egg nog. And for those of you who don’t celebrate Christmas – enjoy the day(s) off!
Free Parking on Saturday
It’s a holiday tomorrow, which means that parking will be free (it’s a Christmas miracle!) all day Saturday. Muni will be running on a Sunday schedule so you can still manage to get some time in with your favorite public transportation hooligans and breathe in that special holiday scent, eau de urine, before jetting off to your various activities.
Photos: Renegade Craft Fair
The Renegade Craft Fair was held this weekend at the Concourse Exhibition Center. With over 200 of the nation’s finest indie-craft talents, it was a DIY wonderland. In case you missed it, here are our photos.
Posadas on 24th Street
If you see a gaggle of kids singing carols at the various storefronts that line lower 24th Street in the Mission this evening then you ran into Posadas. And, no, I don’t mean Jorge Posada famed Yankees catcher – I’m referring to Las Posadas, a Latin American celebration during the nine days preceding Christmas.
Holiday Boat Parade
Okay, yes, Fisherman’s Wharf is a tourist trap that any self-respecting San Franciscan avoids at all costs. But you have to admit, it does gets festive down there for the holidays. And tonight the Bay will be filled with thousands of twinkling lights for the annual Holiday Lights and Sights Boat Parade.
Snow in San Francisco
Get out those snow suits because it’s going to be snowing in San Francisco this Sunday. Well, at least around City Hall. Mayor Gavin Newsom and his wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom are hosting a holiday party on December 12th and they’re inviting you. Yes, you. And they’re filling Civic Center Plaza with tons of snow to create a snow park for the kiddies. You can also go inside City Hall for some holiday cookies, hot cocoa, and entertainment by Magik Magik Orchestra.
