SF Shelters Running Short on Space
San Francisco Animal and Care Control officials are asking anyone who is considering giving up their dogs to hold off as they have run out of kennel space at their shelter.
Dog Owners Protest Off-Leash Restrictions
A protest has been planned for this Saturday, May 21st, 10:30am -12:30pm, in which opponents of the GGNRA’s restrictions on off-leash dogs will be marching from Ocean Beach to Sigmund Stern Grove. Organizers expects several hundred attendees, it is unclear whether this number also includes dogs.
Board of Supervisors Oppose Off-Leash Restrictions
Dog owners got thrown a bone yesterday when the SF Board of Supervisors went on record stating that they oppose the federal (proposed) ban on off-leash dogs in certain areas (e.g. Crissy Field, Fort Funston) of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Majority of Pets Have Weight Problem
A study by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention has found that a majority of both cats and dogs have a weight problem.
Michael Vick wants a Dog
Let’s file this under “Bad Ideas” shall we? SF Gate just ran a piece via AP saying that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick – you know, the guy who ran a vicious a dog-fighting ring and then went to jail for 18 months – now wants a pet dog. Wait, is that Peta I hear knocking down Vick’s door?
