It was a sunny weekend in SF and a beautiful time for hundreds of thousands of people to celebrate #Pride. AIDS Memorial Quilt to be Displayed in Castro
Several locations in San Francisco’s Castro neighborhood will play host to sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt beginning on Sunday.
‘Grease’ Sing-A-Long at the Castro Theatre
Attention all Pink Ladies, T-Birds, Greasers, and Beauty School Dropouts! This weekend the historic Castro Theatre will be screening Grease, the 70s musical about teens in the 50s that taught us to leather up if you don’t want to be left out.

New Parklets Pop Up
Eight new parklets have been approved by the city with nine more in varying stages of approval. As the SF Examiner tweeted: “More San Francisco parking spots to be converted to parklets.” Each mini park takes up roughly 2 parking spots. But, hey, at least you get space to lounge around on the streets.
Another Fire in the Castro
San Francisco police said another suspicious fire broke out early Friday morning in the Castro, the fourth such blaze in the last 24 hours.
America’s First GLBT Museum
Step aside MOMA and de Young, there’s a new museum in town. The country’s first GLBT History Museum. Located at 4127 18th Street in the Castro it is run by The GLBT Historical Society and currently has two exhibits – “Our Vast Queer Past: Celebrating GLBT History” and “Great Collections of the GLBT Historical Society Archives”.
Castro Rainbow Flags in Jeopardy?
First Halloween and now the rainbow flags? Is nothing sacred in the Castro? SFist reports that “preservationists and Castro gays are battling over the rainbow banners” that hang on the light-posts that line the Upper Market and the Castro.
