The upcoming Steven Soderbergh (you know, that guy who directed Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Traffic and Ocean’s Thirteen?) movie, Contagion, which IMDB describes as “an action-thriller centered on the threat posed by a deadly disease and an international team of doctors contracted by the CDC to deal with the outbreak,” is going to be filming in San Francisco for a few days in February and they are looking for extras. Don’t you want to share the screen with Jude Law, Matt Damon and Kate Winslet?

(Another) Toyota Recall

Toyota is not having a good couple years. AP reports that the Japanese automaker is now recalling almost 1.7 millions cars for “various defects that may cause fuel leakage and other problems”. The cars in question include the IS and GS Lexus models, the Avensis sedan and station wagon (sold in Europe) and several models in Japan.

Half of the 2500 block of Mission Street seems to going up for sale. According to Eater, Gus Murad the owner of Medjool (featuring the best rooftop bar in the city) and adjacent Elements Hostel is putting both properties up for sale for $7.1 million. Also on sale is the Value Giant at 2558 Mission and the New Mission Theater at 2550 Mission. With that kind of land, some multi-millionaire out there could create his or her very own Mission empire.

Does it always seem like San Francisco has a plethora of homeless people? It definitely feels like we have more homeless than any city in the country. Well, now you can help find out exactly how many homeless men and women we really do have. This Thursday the city will be embarking on their bi-annual Homeless Count from 7pm – 12am, and they need volunteers.

The dates for the America’s Cup – you know that little international sailing race that’s going to be completely taking over the piers and the Bay – have been set: Sept. 7, 2013 – Sept 22, 2013 (or even earlier if the winner emerges before the 9th and final round). Before all this, however, is The Louis Vuitton Cup, which determines the challenger and will take place July 13 to Sept. 1, 2013. Wow. That’s a lot of sailing.
