The exterior of White Walls/Shooting Gallery and the surrounding alleyways are host to local street art. Fixed upon the walls can be found poster art, this beautiful mural of a woman, stencil behind a doorway gate, and rats from Blek Le Rat. If you are in the neighborhood, be sure to step inside the gallery as well for a peek at some of the city’s most brilliant artists! Artwork can be found at Larkin and Myrtle Streets.

A painted wall in the Tenderloin showcases GIANT and Dan Plasma murals. I like the big bold lettering of GIANT and the faces and eyes that look out at the viewer from an almost tribal-like motif from Dan Plasma. Another way to enjoy art in our city from the Tenderloin!

Harrington’s Pub and neighboring businesses in the Tenderloin have been dressed up with street art! It looks to be EON 75 who decorated these pillars and walls with some Irish themed street art!

Small stencils and posters appear on a vacant wall on Haight Street. This one piece of construction plywood is a constant work in progress for artists in the neighborhood. Walk by every week and there’s always something new to see here!

I came across this fabulous mural in the Tenderloin this last week. It looks like the work of Ben Eine, who has shown his work at galleries in San Francisco, as well as around the world. Other work by Eine in San Francisco includes murals in the Mission District and Hayes Velley.

A pair of eyes look out from two separate walls in the Tenderloin. Like giants staring out of  imaginary peepholes into the city, these posters catch the viewer unaware as they gawk at passersby.

A few graffiti pieces hang on the wall at the corner of Central and Haight Streets. A Bob Marley tribute mural urges the viewer to nourish their soul. A poster image of a figure covering head with hands is pasted above the graffiti display. Around the corner on Central a colorful mural of sunset colors decorate an entranceway in a wash of light!

A new mural painted by the artists San and Escif recently went up on Scott Street at Oak. This long mural covers the wall of the Oak Fair Market and depicts a hipster carrying a tree on his back, seemingly hoisting it up into the air from atop a ladder. This mural coincides with a series of pieces they created for their upcoming show at FIFTY24SF Gallery opening on June 30, 2011. More information about their show can be found here.

A mural was being freshly painted yesterday as I perused through the Tenderloin on an afternoon stroll. In one of San Francisco’s most colorful neighborhoods, viewing this mural led to some good stories to tell when I arrived home. I can’t wait to see this when it’s done!
