If you’re looking to travel down the Great Highway (and taking advantage of this amazing weather to hit the beach) then head’s up: the two southbound lanes will be closed starting today through Friday, 3pm (you know, when the weather turns cold again) for sand removal.

Taxi Driver Strike?
Now, this probably won’t even register on most people’s radar as there seems to be (usually when you’re drunk at 3am in the Mission) only about a dozen or so cabbies aimlessly driving about totally ignoring you while you desperately wave your arms around standing halfway in the street. But…although a Muni strike looks to have been avoided, a taxi strike may be on the horizon.

The Dallas Mavericks are the winners of the NBA Finals, winning the series in game 6, 105-95, against the much-hyped Miami Heat. I’m sure there are lot of the Dallas fans, along with LeBron James haters, out there rejoicing.
Mehserle to be Released from Jail
BART police officer Johannes Mehserle, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for fatally shooting Oscar Grant, is slated to be released from jail in Los Angeles on Monday, June 13th. Let the rioting begin.
More 15mph School Speed Zones?
There are a lot of schools in San Francisco and cars pretty much drive like maniacs around them, especially those parents trying to get their kid to school on time before whizzing off to work or other duties. That’s why the SFMTA wants to lower the speed limit around these institutions to 15mph.
Firefighters Funeral on Friday
The joint funerals for fallen SF firefighters Vincent Perez and Anthony Valerio will be taking place at St. Mary’s Cathedral (111 Gough Street between Geary and Ellis) at around 12:30pm on Friday, June 10th. If you are planning on driving up that way – watch out – it’s going to be crowded.
