Report: Alex Smith is Heading to Kansas City Chiefs

We won’t know for sure for another two weeks, but Alex Smith’s career with the 49ers appears to be coming to an end, according to reports.

Fox sports and other sources are reporting this morning that Smith will be traded to the Kansas City Chiefs for two second-round draft picks, putting an end to the tenuous relationship Smith has had with the football team since he was drafted.

Despite a winning record last season, Smith was benched in favor of Colin Kaepernick during the 49ers’ push to make it to the Super Bowl last season.

The trade won’t become official until the league season starts on March 12.
