Chick-fil-A Not Welcome in San Francisco

Posted by Keith Mizuguchi on Jul 30, 2012 | Comments (7)

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee has joined a chorus of other leaders across the country in distancing himself from fast food restaurant chain Chick-fil-A.

Chick-fil-A has come under heavy fire recently over comments the company made about marriage. Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy said that the company is “guilty as charged” in support of what he called the biblical definition of the family unit.

In a pair of tweets, Mayor Lee condemned Chick-fil-A and said the company was not welcome in San Francisco.

Very disappointed #ChickFilA doesn’t share San Francisco’s values & strong commitment to equality for everyone.

Closest #ChickFilA to San Francisco is 40 miles away & I strongly recommend that they not try to come any closer.

Several other leaders in other cities across the country have also come out to say the Atlanta-based chain would not be welcome in their cities.

Several gay rights advocacy groups are also calling for people to boycott Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country.
