The Black Keys Sue Over Use of Song in Ads

Posted by Keith Mizuguchi on Jun 22, 2012 | Comments (0)

The Black Keys have sued The Home Depot and Pizza Hut over claims that the two companies used parts of their songs without permission in TV ads.

The lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles, claims that Home Depot misused elements of “Lonely Boy” in an ad for power tools and Pizza Hut did the same with the song “Gold on the Ceiling.”

The band is seeking unspecified damages and an order to stop the continued use of the commercials.

Pizza Hut said the company has not seen the case and Home Depot declined to comment.
