New Mission Theater Development

Posted by Anhoni Patel on Feb 15, 2012 | Comments (0)

A deal for the dilapidated New Mission Theater on Mission (between 22nd and 21st Streets) just may be in the works. However, any such news needs to be taken with a grain of salt – if you’ll remember, last year it was rumored to be turned into a bowling ally. That went nowhere fast.

Apparently, the (new) plan is to make the theater into a 5-Screen movie theater that also serves high-end beer and nosh. Word is that Texas-based Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is the suitor toying with our dreams.

However, developer Gus Murad needs to first get through the (dreaded) Historic Preservation Commission first.
