Strippers Left at the Pole

San Francisco’s fire chief put the kabosh on a check presentation at a San Francisco fire station this week after she “made a fuss” over the nature of the presentation.

The check was to be presented by local strippers at Fire Station 1 in the city’s South of Market neighborhood. A group of clubs including Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club, The Condor Club and Little Darlings has annually been one of the biggest donors for the San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program, which is run by the local firefighters‘ union.

A portion of the money donated comes from money made by dancers during the holiday season. Many clubs also collect toys in exchange for free admission into the clubs.

A San Francisco Fire Department spokesperson said Chief Joanne Hayes-White was uncomfortable “with the nature of it, not that they don’t appreciate the check.”

The toy program is the largest in San Francisco, distributing more than 200,000 toys to disadvantaged children year-round, including about 40,000 annually during the holiday season.
